COVID-19 STAFF UPDATE

*Please note this is the COVID-19 STAFF UPDATE. Do not confuse this with the Covid-19 Patient Update that is accessible via the home page.*

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. We are happy to announce that we will be re-opening our Chicago dental practice on Thursday, June 11th at 10:00AM CST for training purposes so we can adjust to the new policies and procedures put in place to keep you, the staff and all of our patients safe. The following week, on Monday, we will start treating patients.

For our Manhattan dental practice, we will be re-opening on Tuesday, June 9th at 10:00AM EST for training purposes so we can adjust to the new policies and procedures put in place to keep you, the staff and all of our patients safe. The following week, on Monday, we will start treating patients.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when we provide care, it’s both safe and comfortable. Please review the below to learn about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep our patients and staff safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We use medical grade disinfectants to ensure proper infection control. You may also see some changes when it is time for you to return to work. We made these changes to help further protect our patients and staff.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

Here are just a few of the extra measures we are taking for your safety:

  1. We will be operating at 25% capacity and slowly ramping up to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.
  2. There is a plexiglass barrier in our reception area to protect both staff and patients.
  3. Hand sanitizer and antimicrobial soap will be readily available throughout the office. Proper hand hygiene is your first line of defense in protection.
  4. Medical grade air purifiers have been placed throughout the office.
  5. Screening measures:
    1. All patients will be asked screening questions before their appointment.
      1. Per the CDC guidelines, we will ask any patient to reschedule their appointment if they have any of the following: a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher, flu-like symptoms, have come in contact with a patient with COVID-19 or have traveled in the past 14 days to any regions affected by COVID-19.
    2. All patients and staff will be asked these same screening questions again when they arrive at our practice.
    3. Prior to entering our office, all patients and staff will receive a forehead temperature scan (no contact).
  6. Staff will be equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    1. Gloves
    2. Full body lab coats
    3. Surgical hair caps
    4. Full face shields
    5. Surgical Masks, ASTM Level 3 Masks/N-95 or kN95.
  7. Check-in process
    1. All patients and staff must wear a face mask when entering the building as you will not be permitted to enter without one.
    2. We have greatly reduced our waiting room. Patients will now be greeted by one of our amazing team members at the door and be taken directly to a treatment room after answering the screening questions and receiving a temperature check.
    3. Installed at the front desk is plexiglass to minimize contact with patients.
  8. Check-out process
    1. The check-out process will be conducted in the operatory prior to the patient leaving. This will reduce the amount of interaction our patients have with the staff.
  9. Removed non-essential items
    1. Any non-clinical items have been stored away. Dental display models, flyers, brochures, magazines, coffee pots, Keurig, night guard samples, implant displays, etc.
  10. Office entry restricted
    1. Only patients and staff may enter the office for an appointment. Spouses, family members, friends, caregivers and parents need to wait outside the building.
    2. They can assist patients to the front door and hand off to staff.
  11. We will also be limiting the number of patients we treat at any given time. We will strictly adhere to social distancing.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient and staff member, safe in our practice.
